We’ve made some really fabulous cakes this year, and I’m proud of each and every one. We were fortunate again to work with wonderful clients who really trust our artistry and give us almost unlimited creative license. Here are just a few of the cakes we created in 2014.
As difficult as it was to chose just one cake, Callan and I agreed on our Cake of the Year. For us, this cake really exemplifies 2014. It has a brushed gold (naturally) bottom tier, and a subtle gold stripe on the top. The sugar flowers represent some of our best work: I made the white open rose and Callan did the deep pink peony. Callan also arranged the flowers (something I don’t enjoy), and really came into her own on this cake. The flower placement is organic and artful and feels spontaneous although it was very deliberate. This cake sort of solidified our signature flower style and the overall design is both classic and perfectly contemporary.
Here it is: Our 2014 Cake of the Year.
This is a shot of the cake at the venue, a vineyard in western Connecticut. The bride provided the topper.
