Create edible confetti! We painted both sides of 0-grade edible wafer paper with a combination of petal dust and grain alcohol and let it dry. We then cut it into small squares using a paper cutter. To adhere it to the sides of the cake, we painted gum glue (a combination of Tylose and water) on to our fondant with a paintbrush and pressed the confetti on.
For the giant bow, we created individual loops in hot pink. Once dry, we painted them with confectioners’ glaze to give them a patent leather look. We moistened a small ball of fondant and attached it to the back of each loop and then pressed it onto the cake. The center is a non-edible button purchased at a local fabric store. Add some gorgeous lighting and a glittery tablecloth, and this is what you get.
The final look is fun yet classic, and just what we were after.
