For the most part, I’m not a fan of “cooking for one” or “one-pot meals”. But when I do have the time to cook, I love serving up something that requires very little hands-on time and effort. This recipe is one of those recipes.
The puff pastry pizza is perfect for picky eaters. If you’re looking for a snack that will also be a favorite of your kids, don’t miss this recipe. It’s quick and easy to make, and easy to prepare for a big party (perfect for a party). The texture is incredible! Crispy, buttery layers of puff pastry, topped with the basic ingredients of a pizza: Marinara sauce, cheese and of course pepperoni. Because it’s a kid’s snack, it’s perfect for school lunches. ….. You’ll even want to take it to lunch at work!
Preparation of puff pastry for pizza
First the puff pastry is rolled out. They should have two leaves of equal size. Use a small plate to cut the leaves into a circle. The top layer is removed and the bottom layer is now ready for the filling. First divide the marinara over the layer, then the cheese and finally the slices of pepperoni.
Place the puff pastry on top and cut the pizza with a small glass into 8 slices (do not cut in half). Roll up the slices, brush them with oil and fry until golden brown.
– Pepperoni pizza can be prepared ahead of time. Assemble them, turn them, and place them on a baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and store in the freezer. The puff pastry wists can be baked directly from the freezer, add 5 to 10 minutes to the baking time.
– Garlic butter is a great pizza sauce.
– You can also use pizza dough or bread dough to make them firmer.
– To make the pockets, divide the dough into squares and cut into smaller squares after baking.
– Be creative and create other shapes (braids, curls, etc.) by cutting them into small pieces and braiding them into braids.
Puff pastry variations
You can use any ingredients that go well with pizza in this recipe: Paprika, smoked chicken, BBQ chicken, pulled pork, spinach and feta, and even ground beef!
How to store Pepperoni Twist Pizza
Cooked and cooled pepperoni pizza twists can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can reheat them in the oven for a few more minutes until crispy.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a clean work surface.
Lay one layer on top of the other.
Using an inverted salad plate, cut a circle out of the puff pastry. Save any leftover puff pastry for use in other recipes.
Remove the plate. Remove the top sheet of puff pastry and set aside.
Spread the marinara sauce over the remaining puff pastry circle.
Sprinkle the cheese over the marinara sauce.
Sprinkle the sliced hot peppers on top.
Place the second sheet of puff pastry over the pepperoni.
Place the shot glass upside down in the center of the circle. Using a knife, cut from the edge of the glass to the edge of the circle and make 8 or 9 slices around the glass.
Take each slice and turn it over twice, pinching the outer edges together. Remove the glass.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and garlic powder.
Grease the dough circles and the center with a brush.
Bake for 25 minutes until the puff pastry is cooked through and golden brown. Serve immediately and add marinara sauce.
For a sweet option, spread a chocolate or hazelnut cream like Nutella on the bottom layer and top it with sliced bananas! This is the same recipe you’ll find in the cookbook, but this time, I wanted to make a fun video to show you how to make it. It’s a super fun twist on the recipe and a great way to get kids involved in cooking. I hope you enjoy it!.
